Terms of Use

Clear expectations for a product in private beta.

These are working pre-launch terms and require final legal review before a public App Store release.

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Legal review required: these working terms do not finalise the charitable operator, consequence settlement, refund, jurisdiction or consumer-rights provisions needed for production financial activation.

1. About these terms

These terms govern use of the VOWR private-beta app and website supplied by VOWR Ltd, United Kingdom. By using the service, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally able to agree to these terms. Features involving a financial consequence are restricted to eligible adults and remain unavailable unless supported age, market, payment and backend checks succeed. A payment method or Apple Account is not by itself proof of age.

3. What VOWR provides

VOWR is behavioural support software intended to help you make commitments, pause selected apps and websites using supported Apple controls, use interventions and review progress. It is not medical treatment, therapy, an emergency service or a guarantee that a commitment will be completed.

4. VOWs and Screen Time protection

You choose the VOW, duration or schedule and protected targets. Screen Time protection depends on Apple frameworks, device settings, permissions, operating-system behaviour and correct setup. You must not tamper with protection or represent an unprotected device as protected. VOWR cannot promise uninterrupted blocking where platform permissions are removed or system services are unavailable.

5. Memberships

Memberships are offered through Apple’s App Store where configured. Prices, billing period, trial eligibility, renewal, cancellation and refunds are governed by the App Store purchase screen and Apple’s terms. Manage or cancel a membership through Apple. Restoring a membership verifies existing entitlement; it does not create a free entitlement.

6. Stakes and consequences

A stake is an amount you choose to give a commitment weight. Test builds may use Stripe’s test environment to authorise a payment method without charging real money. Production financial activation is disabled until the required operator, legal, market, platform and settlement approvals are complete.

No public version should be understood to promise that a charitable contribution has been collected, is tax-deductible, qualifies for Gift Aid or generates a charitable receipt unless future, reviewed terms expressly say so.

7. Third-party services

VOWR may rely on Apple, Stripe, mapping providers, hosting providers and approved backend infrastructure. Their terms and availability also apply to their services. VOWR does not control operating-system or third-party outages.

8. Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information and use only your own authorised payment method.
  • Keep your device and invitations secure.
  • Do not misuse, reverse engineer, disrupt or attempt unauthorised access to VOWR.
  • Do not use VOW Together links to harass, shame or surveil another person.
  • Use professional or emergency support where a situation requires it.

9. Private beta and availability

Beta features may change, be interrupted or be withdrawn. We may limit access to protect users, the service or third parties. We will not silently simulate payment, membership, protection or contribution success.

10. Intellectual property

VOWR, its software, visual identity, copy and original content belong to VOWR Ltd or its licensors. These terms grant only a personal, limited, revocable right to use the service as intended.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using VOWR at any time, subject to separately cancelling an App Store membership. VOWR may suspend access for security, unlawful use, serious abuse or material breach. Ending access does not automatically erase records that must be retained for security, audit or legal reasons.

12. Disclaimers and liability

VOWR is provided with reasonable care but without a promise of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Final limitation-of-liability, governing-law and consumer-rights provisions require legal review before public launch.

13. Changes

We may update these terms as the beta and service evolve. Material changes will be published with a revised date and, where appropriate, explained in the app.
